Welcome to the Target Cartwheel 10-20% off week edition. Where I am supposed to be on a ‘no-buy’, but then proceeded to buy all the things that we ‘needed’ for the house and convinced myself that of course these items were not really no-buy items, but rather house necessities items that could be grouped in the same category as groceries (cue face palm emoji).
I literally went to Target because we are going to my MIL’s house for Saint Patricks Day/Weekend and I am making THIS Nadiya Hussein recipe. If you have never watched her cook, you need to get on Netflix immediately and I will allow you to thank me later. She is also a host of a couple British cooking shows and she is a gem (right up there with Mary Berry…fight me). Any who, I went to go to pick up puff pastry sheets as they supposedly had 10 and I will let you take one guess what was the one thing they did not have there. If you guessed puff pastry sheets, then gold star for you. I ordered them for pick-up at a different Target down the road, so fingers crossed.
They had a really inexpensive small corned beef, so I bought one thinking we could do a crockpot tomorrow and we can also pick up some Guiness because what is ANY corned beef meal without Guiness and of course I was able to get a cabbage and some small baby carrots. Voila! This has nothing to do with Cartwheel, but thought I would share anyway.
If you have not checked out your Cartwheel this week on Target, I highly suggest you do so ASAP. There are so many good deals and so far my favorite has been the 10% off Bullseye section. Although getting 20% off frames, bedding, pillows and towels has been really nice too (don’t ask). We were honestly in desperate need of new towels (we haven’t had new ones since we moved into this house six years ago) and pillows for our bed. One of the Target associates had to come over and had to do all of the percentages manually since for some reason it was not registering the 10% off, so make sure you are watching the screen. I was a little bummed that so much of the new stuff (here is looking at you shadowbox) was not yet out at my main Target because I would have love to have scored it with the percentage.
I did however, end up with all of the below. I justify the two of everything with that it was 10% off and I like things to be in even numbers (don’t judge me), plus I figured if I loved it for the kids room, they would each have one.
As you know, I am no stranger to the Cricut and using it on a Bullseye item, so there is a good chance, that one or all of these items will get an updo…case in point!
In my post HERE, I linked the wire baskets that I use in the kids room and love for their dolls and lovies. I found these in the Bullseye today for $5 and fell in love. They were my favorite find of the day. If the wood is too light for your taste, you can easily stain it since the tops come off.
On the shelf, they didn’t look like anything more than wire baskets (which I still love mind you) as the lids were separate (all stacked together) and the baskets were stacked into one another. However, I noticed that ‘one’ of them had been put together and obviously, once I saw how they looked, two of them came home with me.
It is a pretty sturdy piece and I love the notched inside so that it fits directly on the wire rim and doesn’t just lay casually on top. Do I have a plan for these? No! Were they a necessity? Yes! These would also be really cute as Easter baskets. You can just put the lids to the side until everything is opened.
I love these black wire baskets from Target with the beautiful rose handles. The only problem is that they lock together when you stack them and it takes you, another person and something grippy or lotion-y to pry them apart. Anyone else have that problem with them if you have them? It has only been with these black ones as I have other ones from Bullseye that I do not have this problem with. My kids love playing with baskets so I have had to find somewhere for them immediately since everytime my kids stacked them a string of expletives would unexplicably come from my mouth and poor Sean and I would spend countless minutes trying to pry them apart.
I will say, I’m pretty proud how nicely they fit on our laundry room shelf. It also forced me to stop using the shelf as a collector of random objects.
We still have the original washer and dryer that the house came with (which is a pain in my patootie), but they work, so we really do not need new ones other than for aesthetic reasons (I think this is enough, hubs disagrees lol) and they are the last remaining original appliance in the house (thank goodness). Just in case you were wondering about everything happening below the shelf.
I bought two of these display shelves (they do not come with any hardware or holes for them to be hung). I also think these would make really great easter baskets. If you have a Cricut or a friend with one, you could have them monogrammed on the front, have names put on them or even some cute SVG that you purchase off of Etsy or make yourself. There is so many great ideas that you can use them for.
I am thinking of using them for holidays where I can put a holiday book, treat and some sort of fun holiday toy or Funko/ItsyBitsy for them. Honestly, as much as I loved them, I really didn’t need them as I had bought THESE from the Bullseye several months ago. But here is how my mind works…I know that I am going to see someone do something super cool with them and be so stinking jealous that not only did I not get them, but that I did not save the 10% on them (ridiculous I know, but I know myself). So home they came with me and to my crafting shelf that is beginning to be overrun by Target Bullseye items that I promise I am going to do something with soon.
I needed more risers like a hole in the head, but I loved the stain color on these as they looked a little more rustic and I wouldn’t have to stain them myself, I loved the height and the width of the circle and the black metal rise was really nice. Did I mention there were only two left ::sigh:: my plan is to use these for pictures that are on our bookshelf that are a little more higher and that will give some depth. Will these probably end up in my crate that has a bunch of other risers…more than likely. Is there a support group for something like this?!
I also got a couple of boys sunglasses for the Commodore. They are only a $1 normally and with as often as we are in Disney, snagging a couple of these when it is super sunny out, is always a must and for the price. Plus, I am not worried about him losing them.
Okay, now on to the stuff that I convinced myself was not part of the no-buy, but lets be honest, was. EV’s favorite gift to receive is a crossbody purse. She loves herself a ‘travel sack.’ If this doesn’t tell you that she is her Mama’s daughter, i am not sure what will. If her outfit does not have pockets, a crossbody purse in which to put her treasures is a non-negotiable. I always let her bring one when we travel, but much to her dismay you cannot fit much into it and even though she loves her backpacks, it is the crossbodies that she wants to take with her.
I found THIS one at our Target in the Art Class section (anyone else just LOVE this section) and bought it in gray just because it was cuter than the pink (IMO) and it would remain clean for longer (plus I thought I could decorate it with patches). I love it for all the pockets and my girl loves her pockets. It is really lightweight, it is good for travel since it is wide at the top and her favorite things can be taken with us without her cramming everything in. Most important is that it has short straps for her shoulder or a crossbody strap and the crossbody strap is also really short. It is a perfect growing into a toddler/big girl EV size bag. It is also really good size for throwing in a pair or two of minnie ears (#priorities) . EV has the bigger Amazon Fire with that really thick kid holder around it, so it is nice that it can fit in here if we wanted too even though we throw it in their toddler bag for the parks. At $18 it was exactly what I would have wanted a bag to be for her, so into the Target shopping cart it went.
Pay no attention to day four of unwashed hair as I had just got back from Target and it is a 100 degrees in Florida today!
I should not be left alone to only get the necessities.
The very last thing I grabbed and was seriously a drive by shopping cart and grab experience, was THESE hair clips. We are going to Disney for Easter (big shocker) and as per usual will be packing all the Easter Bunny visiting essentials (blog coming). Since for the first time in forever (cue Frozen music) our annual passes are not blocked for Easter so we are doing the egg hunt in Epcot. Since it is also the Flower and Garden Festival, I thought it would be really cute to do EV’s hair in space buns and then include these clips. I bought two sets because one they are only $5 and two….toddlers….
Obviously the leopard ones are intended for Animal Kingdom because who am I if not always planning for the next Disney trip and theme-ing for a park.
Adorable though right?!
